St Vincent’s Hospital Department of Critical Care Medicine is a Level III intensive care unit.
– 19 Intensive care beds – > 1700 admissions per year of which 50% come from operating theatres, 20% from Emergency, 15% from wards and 15% from inter-hopsital transfers.
The unit is supported by medical and surgical services that include cardiac surgery (contributing roughly 25% of ICU admissions) and neurosurgery.
Therapies provided to patients include invasive ventilation, cardiac support, haemo and plasmafiltration, and ECMO.
